We recently faced the challenge of a fake ID with one of our clients. Their company’s LinkedIn page was stolen by an unknown user, and the page was diverting traffic to a fake business site set up under the client’s brand name. When we tracked and reported the user, he asked for a high compensation to release the page. The process to get the page released was tedious and long, and the cost to the business was huge.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most common ways to perform large-scale data harvesting attacks is by using fake profiles. A malicious user can set up a company page (even though he is not an employee or an owner) under a fake profile.  His main motive is to hold the company for ransom. And sadly, LinkedIn is not immune to these kinds of attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Report A Fake Business Profile on LinkedIn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  1.  Sign up\/Sign In  on LinkedIn<\/li>
  2. Click the More icon on the member’s profile.<\/li>
  3. Click Report\/Block.<\/li>
  4. Select Report this profile in the What do you want to do? Pop-up window.<\/li>
  5. Select the applicable reason for flagging the profile in the Tell us a little more pop-up window.<\/li>
  6. Click Submit proceed or Back to review your options.<\/li>
